Lachie Dellar

Lachie is originally from wine and horse country in the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, Australia. He has been coming to the South Island and the Wanaka region for the past ten or so years on holiday and everything lined up so he decided to make the move for the outdoor lifestyle and scenery. He has a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (honors) and a Bachelor of Medical Science. After graduating he worked in a busy mixed practice with all species, largely dogs, horses and cows. Before moving to New Zealand he was working in an intensive small animal clinic in the Northern Beaches of Sydney. He had been there for around a year or so before deciding to make the move back to mixed practice. He has a particular interest in small animal analgesia, anesthesia and ultrasound, along with reproduction and obstetrics in cattle. One of his favorite things about his profession is the variety that you get day to day, he gets to be hands on in all stages of investigating of a sick animal or formulating preventative care plans. Outside of work he has a cat (that currently resides back in Australia) called Obi Wan Kenobi and is currently waiting for the right dog. He also enjoys ocean swimming, hiking and distance running along with carpentry and metal work.
