Veterinarian

Ellen joined the VetEnt Otorohanga team at the end of 2014 after graduating with a BVSc from The University of Queensland. After growing up in Australia, she has decided that New Zealand is a pretty fantastic place to call home, and lives on a Dairy Farm in Te Awamutu with her husband Brad and daughter Harriet. Ellen currently works part time, and has decided to transition into predominately large animals. With a passion for the outdoors, Ellen loves being out on farm and relishes the opportunity to add value to our clients business. Outside of work, Ellen is acclimatising to life as a mum and can often be found helping out around the farm in between trips across the Tasman to visit family and friends.

She also enjoys the attention to detail the role requires as well as treating pets as if they were hers. In her spare time she is busy caring for her own pets including four dogs, one cat, four horses, goats, cows and sheep. Elora Saha

Veterinarian
Elora is predominately a large animal veterinarian with a focus on those animals on lifestyle blocks. She also dabbles with a few dairy and companion animal clients also. Alongside her Bachelor of Veterinary Science she also holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences with Honours from The University of Otago. Her parents moved to New Zealand from Calcutta, India, almost 40 years ago. She was born and bred in Christchurch and so ideally wanted to end up here if it was possible. During her final year of vet school she had a rural practice roster at the VetEnt Te Awamatu clinic that she really enjoyed and it put VetEnt on the map for her. Fast forward a few months and the position in our Leeston clinic came up – and she couldn’t believe her luck! She loves working with lifestylers - in particular the pigs, goat, sheep and lambs. And also enjoys the variation she gets on a day-to-day basis and of course all the cool work stories she gets to tell. Outside of work she has a very affectionate and imaginatively-named cat called Puss Puss. Enjoys leisurely runs, going to the gym and checking out the brunch menu at local cafes. She also likes listening to podcasts and entertaining her inner bookworm.

Emma Parkinson
Veterinarian
Emma is a companion animal veterinarian, qualified with a BVMS MRCVS from the University of Glasgow, and is originally from the United Kingdom, she has been in practice for over eight years and has worked with equine, dairy, sheep and beef as well as companion animals in various practices over the years. She also has had a varied background working as a locum around the world in many different clinical roles including shelter medicine, mobile vet clinics and emergency work. She really enjoys complex medicine cases, endocrine disorders – alongside challenging diabetic patients as well as soft tissue surgery. She is currently working to further her expertise in soft tissue surgery by working towards an RCVS certificate in small animal surgery. She thoroughly enjoys applying science to help animals. As well as the combination of physiology, anatomy and medicine with the challenge of surgery – one thing she loves is that she sees so much and such a variety of cases every single day, with no two days ever being the same. Out of work she has a Siberian Husky called Hank who is super cool and she enjoys running on the trail or road, tramping, mountaineering, rock climbing, skiing, mountain biking, surfing and SUP boarding. Basically anything vaguely dangerous outdoors! She is also a keen horse rider and prolific reader and is excited to be a part of the VetEnt team.

Veterinarian

I graduated in 2003 from Utrecht University and worked in Holland for a couple of years. I then had my first child and shortly after we moved to NZ where I started working as a small animal vet again. After a 2 year OE in NZ we moved back to Holland but not for long! With permanent residency we moved back to NZ in November 2011 to stay. I enjoy working with both people and animals and I particularly enjoy behavioural problems in dogs and cats, and internal medicine. You can find me in the Gisborne clinic on Thursdays and Fridays. I’m married to Maarten who also works in Gisborne and together we have 3 lovely kids. They keep me entertained when I’m not at work and in my free time I enjoy running, reading and cooking.
